In a peaceful farmyard lived a farmer and his wife. They were not wealthy, but they worked kindly and cared for their animals. Among them was a beautiful white goose with soft feathers that shone in the morning light.
One day, the farmer found something astonishing in the nest: a glittering golden egg! He ran to his wife, and together they stared in wonder. Day after day, the goose laid one golden egg.
Soon the couple sold the eggs and lived more comfortably. They bought good food, fixed their little house, and smiled more often. Life felt magical and calm.
But greed began to grow in the farmer’s heart. “Why wait for one egg each day?← he thought. “If I take all the gold at once, we will be rich forever.←
His wife tried to stop him, but he would not listen. In a foolish moment, he harmed the goose, hoping to find a treasure inside. There was no gold. There was only silence.
The magical goose was gone, and so were the golden eggs. The farmer sat beside the empty nest and cried. He had lost a daily blessing because he wanted everything too quickly.
From that day, the village told the story to children at bedtime: be thankful for what comes each day, and do not let greed steal your happiness.
