All summer long, the meadow was full of music and sunshine. A cheerful grasshopper hopped from leaf to leaf, singing songs and dancing in the warm breeze. He loved to play and never thought about tomorrow.
Nearby, a busy ant worked from morning until evening. She carried seeds, crumbs, and tiny grains into her cozy home. “Come play with me!← called the grasshopper. “Why work so hard on such a beautiful day?←
The ant smiled politely. “Winter will come soon,← she said. “I am storing food so my family will be safe and warm.← The grasshopper laughed and kept singing.
Then the days grew shorter. Cold winds blew across the meadow, and soft white snow covered the grass. The grasshopper’s songs faded. He shivered and searched for food, but the fields were empty.
Hungry and cold, he knocked on the ant’s door. “Please help me,← he said quietly. “I have nothing left to eat.←
The ant opened the door and shared a little food. Then she spoke kindly but firmly. “Play is wonderful, but work is important too. Next summer, try to prepare while the sun is shining.←
The grasshopper nodded. He finally understood that hard work is not boring—it is a gift we give our future selves.
